'Oldest galaxy' discovered using Hawaii telescope

According to a team of Japanese astronomers, they have seen the oldest galaxy mankind has ever seen. Apparently, this galaxy is about 13 light years away from Earth. That is approximately 130 trillion kilometers. They have found this galaxy using a telescope on Hawaii, one of the most technologically advanced devices on Earth. The current theory about the birth of the universe, the big bang, is that it is almost 14 billion years ago. By using advanced telescopes, you look ‘back in time’.

This is a very interesting article to read and investigate. If it is correct, humans will be able to see the creation of the universe in a couple of years. Just thinking about this makes my heart beat faster. If this theory is correct and we see the beginning, all religions on Earth are proven to be a made up story. Oh, how I would love to see the faces of those religious crusaders that still knock on doors every day to sell their mindset. Apart from that, it is still very interesting. This will teach us more about ourselves and where we come from.

Blog 14 - Another pedofile!

Ex-PCSO Gary Hastings jailed for child sex offences

A former police community support officer (PCSO) has pleaded guilty to the charges of seven counts of sexual activity with two children. Hastings is a former foster carer. While being a foster carer he took two vulnerable boys in and abused them multiple times. He worked for the Humberside Police between 2008 and 2011 and went through multiple procedures before being appointed. Hastings has been jailed for 10 years for child sex offences.

Great, another sexual predator that likes to abuse children. How come half of the articles I find about the UK are about child abuse? It is scaring me quite a lot. As I have mentioned a couple of times before, lock these people up in a dark dungeon and let them rot for the rest of their lives. I loathe these people. If I ever find one who does these things he will not get off to jail without any physical  inflictions. The world would be better off without them. Castrate them before putting them in a dungeon I would like to say, but I guess that is too ‘explicit’.

UK LulzSec suspect charged with hacking in US

The British man Ryan Cleary, part of the Lulz Security hacking group, has been charged by the US for hacking into several websites, including that of the X-Factor. Mr Cleary, born in Wickford, Essex, has also been charged by the US. The 20-year-old male suspect is accused of breaking in to the Serious Organised Crime Agency website while he was still a teenager. Cleary was taken into custody last March. If he gets convicted, he faces a maximum of twenty-five years in jail.

Although what he did was illegal, I respect this man; not because he is a criminal but because he is just twenty years old and already able to hack into the most complicated and best encrypted sites in the world. This man is a genius. If the UK is smart, they recruit him instead of sending him to jail. Hackers are the best website defense builders in the world, this is a fact. They know exactly how the hack a site so they also know how to protect one.

Westlife singer Shane Filan is declared bankrupt

Westlife singer Shane Filan has been declared bankrupt in the UK. In a statement, Filan said: “I have worked long and hard to tackle my debts and I am devastated that my problems have come to this conclusion”. His company, Shafin Developments Limited (owned by Filan and his brother), has suffered a major loss since last month. Westlife, one of the most successful boy bands, is having its farewell tour. Although Filan has earned millions with the band, he has lost everything.

Well, how strange. Mister boy band singer thinks he can play with the men and invest in his own company. He should have enjoyed his money instead of becoming too greedy. People always need more money and then they lose everything. I cannot shed one single tear for this man. He took a risk and it did not work out the way he planned; tough luck. This proves, once against, you do not need brains to get rich; being good looking is enough.

Liverpool shooting leaves one man dead

After a double shooting on the streets of Liverpool, one man got killed and another got critically injured. The shooting took place at 1 AM and when the ambulance arrived, one man had already died. The other got taken to the hospital where he currently remains in critical condition. Why the shooting took place is still a mystery and if anyone has any information regarding this event, they are asked to call the force's Matrix team.

After all the positive stories I heard about Liverpool, I am starting to doubt the hospitality there. No that is not true, this happens all the time, all around the world. It even happened in my city, Oss, in my own street. I still think my town is pretty decent when it comes down to hospitality. These men were probably doing something unaccepted by some other men and got shot in the process. It is hard to feel sorry for them since it is unlikely they got shot for nothing. Things like this happen every day, I cannot feel weary.

Blog 10 - Murderous footballer

Young footballer charged with murdering girl aged 15

Andrew Hall, a Stoke City's academy attendant, is accused of stabbing a 15-year-old girl, named Megan-Leigh Peat, to death. Andrew Hall, aged 18, apparently stabbed Megan to death. However, the reason is still unknown. Peat left the bar together with an 18-year-old male and died around 1.30AM at a house in Ailesbury Road in Ampthill. Her friends have paid tribute at the scene of her death. Chelsie McAneny, a friend of Peat: “Everyone loved her, she was bubbly and popular and she stuck up for everyone, even when she was down”.

The guy probably got rejected which made him go mad and then he stabbed her. Another tragic story, one of the all too many tragic stories you read in the paper every day. I just cannot understand why people would do these things. If you’re a guy and you get rejected, grow a pair and continue life with your head to the sky. Things like these happen every day; if we stabbed someone for each time we got depressed the world would be a lousy place, would it not? Put this guy behind bars for a long time and let him learn from his mistakes.

Blog 9 - Internet paedophiles

Police target suspected internet pedophiles with raids across UK

Over the last 48 hours, several people have been arrested on suspicion of being internet pedophiles. More than 40 police forces have been raiding across the UK. A specialist from the police on child protection said: “anyone caught downloading child abuse images online poses a risk of committing physical sex attacks on children” and according to the deputy children's commissioner Sue Berelowitz: “there isn't a town, village or hamlet in which children are not being sexually exploited”. Although the police have not released any information, apparently a 68-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making and distributing indecent images of children.

This article is very similar to another one I read a few days ago. Apparently the police do take action when it comes down to pedophiles. I think this is a very good initiative since child abuse is the cruelest thing one can do. These people force children to do disturbing things and I think it is a very good thing to lock them behind bars for the rest of their lives. No mercy for child abuse. Now the police have to stop targeting innocence people and I will be a happy person.

Blog 8 - Children's Commissioner's Claims

MPs to investigate deputy children's commissioner's claims

The English Deputy Children's Commissioner Sue Berelowitz has told the MPs that girls aged 11 get lured in by internet chat rooms and raped. She added that these girls came from all communities and ethnic groups. Last month nine Asian men were convicted of sexually abusing young girls. According to Berelowitz: “In parts of London, children expect to have to perform oral sex on line-ups of boys, up to two hours at a time, from the age of 11”. One time a group of boys aged 14 to 15 were called to a park to join in on the rape of a “very, very young girl”.

This is not just absurd, it is almost impossible to believe. Have these children no decency? Have they not been raised at all? These kids should be thrown in jail to experience the same they’ve done to other to be honest. I would prefer these kind of people in some sort of work camp for the rest of their lives. Imagine these kids being twenty or thirty, they will be absolute psychopaths. I am very positive a lot of people deserve a second chance, but not these kind of people. On second thought, do not call them people. They are monsters, beasts with no morality.

Prince William thanks Queen for 'love and devotion'

Prince William has thanked Queen Elizabeth II during a speech aimed at an audience at Vernon Park in Basford. He said: "The occasion presents the perfect opportunity for me, through my patronage of the Queen Elizabeth II Fields, to pay tribute to the Queen on her Diamond Jubilee”. The prince thanked the Queen for all her good deeds, devotion and the love she has shown her people for the last 60 years. According to Caitlin McClatchey, a swimmer: "She's been a figurehead of this country for 60 years and I feel so honoured and privileged to have been able to meet her."

To be fairly honest, I do not give one flying bird about any monarchism, let alone the British one. I find it rather amusing that all these people can be so happy by paying an old woman for 60 years to do nothing, because that is basically what she does. On the other hand, every day is a reason to party so it would be hypocritical to judge them. I just cannot imagine why people would be happy if someone who is nothing more than a symbol has been ‘ruling’ them for 60 years. I find it strange that someone would even consider celebrating ones suppression.

Blog 6 - Students blame university for plagiarism

Universities need to tell students the rules about plagiarism, says adjudicator

According to the official that has been dealing with student complains in Britain: “Some universities are letting students down by failing to warn them about plagiarism and its consequences until it is too late”. The annual report by the OIA (Office of the Independent Adjudicator) shows that for the past three years complaints about plagiarism and its consequences have risen enormously. Behrens says “I'd like to see more universities use the plagiarism software for student training as well as detection”, which seems the best way to avoid unintentional plagiarism. According to Behrens, there are three sorts of complaints: "Students say to us either: 'No one told me what the rules were', or 'I accept I broke the rules but the sanction is too severe,' or 'The university didn't follow its own regulations and I didn't get a fair hearing.'"

I think that universities should be more good-hearted when it comes to plagiarism, at least the first time it happens. Everyone makes mistakes and that includes students. It is not difficult to forget to cite a source, especially when working on a bigger project. It is very harsh to kick a student out of school just for forgetting to add a link to three of the lines he put on paper. Secondly, universities should have a special program for plagiarism so students will learn in, let’s say, three hours how it works and how to beat it.

Blog 5 - Richard Dawkins

Richard Dawkins wants evolutionary science to be 'the new classics'

Richard Dawkins, admired as an outspoken atheist, was recently awarded by the British Humanists Association for ‘Distinguished Services to Humanism’. He held a speech at the award acceptance where he opened his speech by telling his audience “Why I am not a Christian”. Dawkins argued several things including: everything has to be paid for, why modern molecular genetics has become a branch of IT, why doctors have to be Darwinists and more. After his speech Dawkins received a standing ovation, received praise and was asked a thousand times over to sign the books he has written.

I had never heard of Dawkins until I read this article, but I immediately became a fan. This man has written many great books, including God Delusion where he tries to explain why people should be focused on science, not believes. Seeing that this man has many degrees in all sorts of specializations, it would be unwise not to listen to him. Personally, I am not a very big fan of religion since I think religion is one big lie, whereas this man has proven multiple religions to be nonsense.

Blog 4 - Why we are fat

Why our food is making us fat

Obesity is a growing problem everywhere around the world. Most people blame children and their parents for not getting enough exercise. However, a 12-year study, done by Plymouth Hospital in the UK, shows that children and adults get exactly the same amount of exercise as they did 60 years ago, when obesity was not a problem. The think that is currently making us fat is our food. Thanks to Richard Nixon and his idea to add corn to our animal’s diet, all our food is transformed to make it cheaper and bigger. Even the clothing sizes changed from L to M (and XL to L etc.). The biggest problem is not that we eat too much, but that we eat too unhealthy. The current food contains too much fat and too much sugar, even without us knowing.

This article was quite shocking to me. I must admit that I knew that most of us our too fat but who would have thought that was caused by structurally altered food and not the lack of exercise. Personally I am a very lazy person and I dislike running for the sake of running. I love sports however, especially when I was a kid. Now I know why I was fat; not because of the exercise, but because of the junk our government (and big tycoons) puts in our food.

Blog 3 - UK students head for Europe

UK students escape the fees nightmare and head for Europe

Recent surveys, carried out by Prospects, have proven that over 70% of the British students who head for university next year, consider studying outside the UK whereas only 4% of those upcoming students rule out studying abroad. This has to do with the introduction of way higher tuition fees, starting this autumn. Although students lose their entitlement to a student loan, they receive a loan in the country they will study in. The biggest stumbling block will be homesickness and money problems but according to Davies heading home a couple of times a year is still much cheaper than studying at an English university.

I think that studying abroad is a very reasonable alternative, especially if your parents aren’t millionaires. Seeing how most universities in Europe are either a couple of thousand euros cheaper than English ones, or totally free, studying abroad really improves your financial situation. Another interesting fact is that, for example, Dutch universities are part of the top 10 universities in Europe, thus including England, it would be slightly dumb to study at a university that has less quality and is about ten times as expensive.
